Leeds United vs Manchester United Predictions
A keenly-anticipated contest takes place at Elland Road as in-form Leeds look to take advantage of bitter rivals Man Utd.
The Whites should fancy their chances against a United side struggling for results and defensive consistency.
I'm backing Leeds to score at least two goals this weekend.

- Man United conceded 2+ goals in 5 of their last 9 matches
Man United Edge Recent H2H Record
Leeds and Manchester United have met eight times in competitive action since 2020. Man United won four of those encounters while Leeds claimed one victory.
The Whites secured a 2-1 win in their most recent encounter at Old Trafford in April. won the most recent meeting 2-1 at Old Trafford in April.
Leeds Look to Respond After Arsenal Defeat
Leeds return to Elland Road after a frustrating 2-1 defeat at Premier League champions Arsenal last Saturday.
James Justin gave the visitors the lead ten minutes after the interval, but Riccardo Calafiori equalised before substitute Bruno Guimaraes completed the Gunners' comeback.
Daniel Farke's side had threatened an upset in a competitive contest at the Emirates.
The champions’ strong finish was reflected in the final match stats. Arsenal outshot Leeds 13-11 and recorded a significantly higher xG total of 2.33 compared to the visitors’ 0.62.
Leeds forced David Raya into several saves, but were unable to find a leveller in London.
Daniel Farke's men began the Premier League season with a five-match unbeaten run. Despite last weekend's defeat, Leeds remain seventh in the table.
Over a longer period, the hosts have lost only two of 15 EPL fixtures since the end of last season.
The Whites were particularly impressive in their last outing at Elland Road, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring twice in a dominant 4-1 victory against Newcastle.
Manchester United Winless After Madrid Defeat
Manchester United travel to Yorkshire after a 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Pablo Barrios scored inside the opening minute before Ademola Lookman sealed the points late on. Leny Yoro’s red card in the second period ensured another dismal day out for the Red Devils faithful.
Atletico created the better opportunities, registering an xG of 1.47 compared to United's 0.98. The hosts also had 58% possession and an 11-9 advantage in shots as Michael Carrick's side's poor form continued.
United have now failed to win any of their last five matches, while a 4-0 win against Sabah in their Champions League opener remains their only victory in seven games completed since the start of September.
Carrick's struggling side sit 13th in the EPL having picked up only six points from six league matches. They have yet to keep a clean sheet in the league, with Hull City, Ipswich Town and Everton each scoring twice against them.
On the road, United have failed to win any of four competitive away matches this season.
Defeats at Hull and Atletico came either side of draws against Everton and Fulham, with United conceding seven goals across those four fixtures.
Leeds United vs Manchester United Team News
Leeds United: (3-5-2) James Trafford; James Justin, Nico Elvedi, Tarik Muharemovic; Jayden Bogle, Anton Stach, Ethan Ampadu, Ao Tanaka, Gabriel Gudmundsson; Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor.
Leeds boss Farke is unlikely to make too many alterations to the side that started at Arsenal.
The hosts have three players unavailable this weekend. Joe Rodon remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Daniel James has a back problem and Mateo Joseph is unavailable with a knee injury.
Harry Wilson and Jean-Matteo Bahoya are in contention to earn starting berths after both appeared in the second half of last week’s defeat at Arsenal.
Speaking to the BBC, Farke expressed pride in his side’s performance against Arsenal but frustration at leaving the Emirates empty-handed:
"Gutted for my lads because they showed an excellent performance today. I'm heartbroken that we didn't take anything away. But also proud because we played excellent in the first half.
"I said at half-time, if we have more clarity and belief in our situations, then we can win this game. We went for it; even to score the second goal, we had the momentum on our side, but Arsenal are the reigning champions.”
“Even with little details, they are able to capitalise. All credit goes to them; they found a way to turn this game."
Manchester United: (4-2-3-1) Senne Lammens; Diogo Dalot, Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez, Ayden Heaven; Andrey Santos, Carlos Baleba; Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford; Bryan Mbeumo.
United boss Carrick is expected to make some changes to his first XI this weekend. Amad could come into the first XI after Bruno Fernandes’ struggles in an unfamiliar right-wing role.
The Red Devils have several injury concerns. Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo will be assessed after missing the Atletico defeat, while Noussair Mazraoui is also doubtful to feature.
Patrick Dorgu, Benjamin Sesko and Manuel Ugarte remain sidelined.
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the defeat in Madrid, Carrick expressed frustration with his side’s performance at the Metropolitano.
"Bit mixed. It is a tough enough place to come and to get the start we had obviously puts us in a difficult situation, but I thought we grew into the game.
"We started having some control in the second half without having real threat. Then there was Bruno's chance and then the red card, which I felt was a poor decision.
"Disappointed really with the chances that we had that we hadn't had more.”
Verdict
Leeds are in much better form, and backed by a passionate home crowd, seem likely to add to Man Utd woes this weekend.
Leeds over 1.5 team goals is my best bet.
