St Louis vs Vancouver Whitecaps Predictions & Picks
St Louis are looking to leapfrog Vancouver at the top of the Western Conference, with the home side trailing the conference leaders by a single point.
Vancouver have suffered through a poor run of form across their last three, with their lead at the top of the conference cut to a single point.
- St Louis beat Vancouver 3-1 in their meeting back in September
- St Louis have won their last three at home in the MLS
Head To Head
Across their eight previous meetings, St Louis have won twice, Vancouver have secured four wins and two games have ended as draws.
St Louis Form
St Louis showed no mercy to LA Galaxy in their last outing as they brought the two-game winning run of their opponents to a grinding halt in a stunning 6-2 win.
This win helped to extend their winning run to four games, while they are now unbeaten across their last 18 in the league. Their brilliant streak means they are now a single point short of Vancouver at the summit as the second-placed side in the Western Conference have taken advantage of the top side's poor run of form.
While the pair are very even when it comes to their overall records this season, the home side are in far better form right now. The pair could play out a classic in the MLS, but whatever the quality of the game, I back St Louis to come out on top.
Vancouver Whitecaps Form
Vancouver’s 3-0 win over Real Salt Lake now feels like a very long time ago, with the top side in the Western Conference on a three-game winless run.
Draws with DC United and LAFC sandwich a 3-1 loss to Chicago, meaning Vancouver have taken a single point from a possible nine in their last three. This run, coupled with St Louis’ three wins in this time, means Vancouver’s lead at the top is now down to a single point.
Victory in this one would see the leaders go four points clear, but their run of three without a win is a worry. Vancouver look like they may be running out of steam at the worst time, and I predict they will slip down to second in the Western Conference on the back of an eighth defeat this season.
