Li Looks to Extend Recent Resurgence in Wuhan
Ann Li began her Asian swing with an encouraging run in Beijing last week, reaching the fourth round after defeating Ashlyn Krueger and Belinda Bencic before losing to Elina Svitolina in straight sets. She will now look to build on that performance in Wuhan.
The American endured a slow start to the season, winning only five matches across her first nine events. However, she gradually found her rhythm during the clay-court swing, reaching the semifinals in Strasbourg, the quarterfinals in Rouen and the fourth round in Madrid.
After the clay season, Li struggled to maintain that level but has regained momentum in recent weeks. She reached the semifinals in Monterrey, the third round at the US Open and the fourth round in Beijing, giving her renewed confidence heading into this tournament.
Li made her Wuhan debut last year, receiving a retirement win against Emma Raducanu in the opening round before losing to Ekaterina Alexandrova in her next match. She will aim to improve on that result this week.

Osorio Gets Lucky-Loser Lifeline After Qualifying Setback
Camila Osorio defeated Tyra Caterina Grant before losing to Katie Volynets in the second qualifying round, despite taking the opening set. The Colombian has now received another opportunity to enter the main draw as a lucky loser and will look to make the most of it.
Osorio produced several encouraging results earlier this year, reaching the third round in Doha, Indian Wells and at the French Open. She also won a WTA 125 title in Manila and reached the quarterfinals in Rabat.
However, her level has dropped significantly since the start of the grass-court season. She has won only four matches across her last eight events and has lost five of her last six main-draw matches on tour.
Osorio has made two previous main-draw appearances in Wuhan, both ending in opening-round defeats. Her most recent outing came last year, when she lost to Marie Bouzkova in straight sets. She will now hope to turn her fortunes around if given another opportunity this week.
