Alcaraz Aims To Bounce Back From US Open Defeat
Carlos Alcaraz recently failed to defend his US Open title, losing to Ben Shelton in a gruelling five-set quarterfinal. He has since dropped one place in the rankings after Alexander Zverev won the US Open title.
Despite the loss, it was still a confidence-boosting and encouraging result for Alcaraz, considering he had not played a match for more than four months before beginning his US Open campaign due to injury.
Before the injury he sustained in Barcelona, he played five events, winning titles at the Australian Open and Doha, while also reaching the final in Monte Carlo and the semifinals in Indian Wells. He will now look to regain that level.
This is his third appearance at the Laver Cup. He has played four singles matches and won three of them, with his only loss coming against Taylor Fritz last year.

Fritz Looks To Repeat His Laver Cup Heroics
Taylor Fritz recently failed to defend his quarterfinal points at the US Open, losing in the third round after leading by two sets to love. It was a disappointing result considering his performances in the lead-up events, including winning the title in Washington and reaching the quarterfinals in Cincinnati.
The American struggled with a knee injury earlier this year, which sidelined him for more than two months. However, since his return, he quickly regained his level, reaching the finals in Stuttgart and Halle, as well as the quarterfinals in Washington.
This is his sixth appearance at the Laver Cup. Last year, he won both of his singles matches in straight sets to help Team World win the Laver Cup, including a victory over Carlos Alcaraz.
He also represented his country in a team event earlier this year at the ATP Cup, where he lost three of his four matches. He will be looking for a better outcome this week despite dealing with knee issues.
