Winnipeg Blue Bombers Form
Winnipeg head to Montreal looking to repeat their upset victory in Toronto in the Eastern semi-final.
The Blue Bombers scraped into the postseason by finishing fourth in the West Division with a 9-9 record – beating Calgary via a tiebreaker.
That unsurprisingly made them underdogs for the trip to face Toronto, but they were able to knock off the Argonauts to stay on course for yet another Grey Cup appearance.
Winnipeg snatched the victory inside the final minute when Nic Demski grabbed the game-winning touchdown, and also hauled in the two-point conversion to seal a 25-22 win.
Demski finished with 72 yards off four receptions, while quarterback Dru Brown – in for the injured Zach Collaros – went 18/30 for 206 yards and a couple of passing touchdowns.
Montreal Alouettes Form
Montreal enjoyed last weekend off, having won a league-high 14 games to finish top of the Eastern standings.
The Alouettes’ trip to the postseason never appeared to be in doubt as they won nine of their first 10 games to take a commanding lead in the division.
They did drop a couple of games between late August and the middle of September, but rebounded strongly over the final few weeks of the regular season.
Montreal won four of their final five games, including a 37-10 blowout of playoff opponents Winnipeg.
The Alouettes were also able to retain their perfect home record during that run, meaning they ended the campaign with a 9-0 record at Molson Stadium.
Verdict
This is a lot of points, but Montreal have been outstanding at home this season and crushed the Blue Bombers here on October 3.
We are backing the Alouettes to win by double figures as they secure their place in the Grey Cup.
