Renato Moicano vs Tom Nolan Predictions & Picks

Renato Moicano is tipped to win this battle of ranked lightweight fighters.

Moicano has a big edge if these two fighters hit the mat, and we expect him to take down Tom Nolan and secure the submission finish.

Renato Moicano Form

Renato Moicano is the number 12 ranked lightweight contender with a professional record of 21-7-1 (2 KOs, 11 Subs).

Moicano has been competing in the UFC since 2014 and has faced a who’s who of fighters in the lighter weight classes with mixed results.

He enjoyed his best run of form in the UFC between November 2022 and September 2024, as he reeled off four consecutive victories to earn himself a shot at the lightweight title.

Having dropped a catchweight bout with Rafael dos Anjos via decision, the 37-year-old Brazilian rebounded with a first-round submission win over Brad Riddell.

Moicano backed that up with a unanimous decision victory over Drew Dober, before scoring the first TKO wins of his career as he stopped both Jalin Turner and Benoit Saint Denis in two rounds.

That earned him a shot at Islam Makhachev’s lightweight crown in January of last year, but he came up short as he lost via first-round submission.

‘Money Moicano’ then lost by decision to Beneil Dariush, but he rebounded in April of this year with a second-round submission of Chris Duncan.

Tom Nolan Form

Tom Nolan is the number 14 ranked lightweight contender with a career record of 11-1 (5 KOs, 1 Sub).

Nolan joined the UFC in late 2023 after a successful appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series, and made his debut in January 2024.

The 26-year-old Australian endured a disappointing start as he was knocked out in the first round by Nikolas Motta, but he has rebounded since then.

He registered his first UFC win four months later as he knocked out Victor Martinez in the opening round, and then closed out his 2024 activity with a decision win over Alex Reyes.

Nolan backed that up with two more wins last year, as he beat Viacheslav Borschchev by unanimous decision and Charlie Campbell by first-round submission.

‘Big Train’ then made it five-in-a-row in June of this year, as he beat Fares Ziam on points.

Verdict

Renato Moicano is a seasoned campaigner with slick submission skills.

We expect him to cancel out Tom Nolan’s striking advantage by taking this to the mat, where he can work his way to a fight-ending submission.
