Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets Prediction and Pick - ExpertPicks

The Dallas Stars should beat Columbus for the second time in a week.

Jason Robertson arrives at Nationwide Arena fresh off a hat trick, and that's part of why the Dallas Stars are my pick in this Stars vs Blue Jackets prediction against the Columbus Blue Jackets, with puck drop at 7 p.m. ET.

I'm backing Dallas at -128. Jake Oettinger has won eight of his 12 starts, and Dallas are 4-1-1 on the road. Columbus have been much better at home and just put seven past Colorado, but Dallas held them to one goal on Saturday.

Robertson is my shots bet. He has three or more shots on goal in 11 of 15 games and eight of his last 10, and he put five on net in Washington on Tuesday.

Kent Johnson is the Columbus player I trust. He has a point in 10 of 13 games, including every one of his last five, and at +110 he can land even in a Dallas win, since he set up the Blue Jackets' only goal on Saturday.

  • Oettinger has a 1.91 goals-against average this season.
  • Robertson and Mikko Rantanen share the Dallas lead with 18 points.
  • Johnson leads Columbus with seven goals.
  • Robertson has 49 shots on goal in 15 games.

Head to Head

Columbus won both meetings in 2025-26, 5-1 in Dallas in October and 1-0 at home in January. Dallas won the first meeting this season.

That game was October 31 at American Airlines Center, a 3-1 Dallas win. Rantanen scored on the power play 2.16 in, Thomas Harley made it 2-0 with one second left in the first, and Arttu Hyry sealed it with an empty-netter.

Stars Form

Dallas are 7-3 in their last 10, and the penalty kill has been the foundation. They've killed 30 of 33 chances in that span, which lets Oettinger play with a lead most nights.

Tuesday in Washington, Robertson scored three times in 5.20 early in the second to turn a 1-0 lead into 4-0. The Stars then let the Capitals score five of the last seven goals and had to hang on for a 6-5 win, a rare loose night for this group.

Miro Heiskanen is day to day with an upper-body injury after playing on Tuesday, per ESPN, which would take the top Dallas defenceman out of the lineup. Oettinger is expected to start after winning his last two.

Blue Jackets Form

Columbus are 4-6 in their last 10, but the home and road split tells the real story. They're 5-3 at Nationwide Arena and 1-4 away, and Charlie Coyle and Johnson share the team lead with 13 points.

Tuesday's 7-2 win over Colorado was over by the middle of the second, with Columbus leading 6-1 after Valeri Nichushkin's goal at 12.42 and Coyle finishing with two goals and two assists. Saturday in Dallas went the other way, as they outshot the Stars 25-17 and still lost.

Isac Lundestrom is still out with an Achilles injury, according to ESPN's injury report, and there's nothing new for Columbus. Cam Talbot is expected to start after his 27-save win over Colorado.

Verdict

Dallas have the better goalie and the better penalty kill, so my Stars vs Blue Jackets picks take the Stars to win, Robertson to keep shooting and Johnson to find the scoresheet for Columbus.
