Bayern Munich vs Arsenal Predictions

Bayern Munich and Arsenal lock horns at the Allianz Arena in a fascinating Champions League encounter on Wednesday.

The hosts are full of confidence after a six-goal demolition of RB Leipzig, while Arsenal maintained their winning form with a narrow victory at Nottingham Forest.

With both sides rarely failing to score, BTTS looks like the best bet in a tough-to-call contest.

Goals on the Cards in Bavaria

  • Bayern Munich have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 5 matches
  • Bayern Munich scored 1+ goals in 63 of their last 64 matches (competitive fixtures)
  • Arsenal have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 8 matches against Bayern Munich
  • Arsenal scored 1+ goals in 19 of their last 20 matches (competitive fixtures)

Bayern Edge H2H Record

Bayern Munich and Arsenal have met 11 times in competitive action since 2010. Bayern won six of those matches while Arsenal claimed three victories. Two matches finished as draws.

Arsenal claimed a 3-1 win in their most recent encounter in London last season.

Bayern Blast Past Leipzig

Bayern Munich return to Champions League business after a commanding 6-1 victory against RB Leipzig on Saturday.

Luis Diaz scored a hat-trick, while Aleksandar Pavlovic, Michael Olise and Harry Kane also got their name on the scoresheet in a crushing win at the Allianz Arena.

Andrija Maksimovic's stoppage-time consolation denied the hosts a clean sheet after an otherwise dominant performance at the Allianz Arena.

The Bavarians had 29 shots, including a remarkable 17 on target. They dominated the ball (62%) and recorded a significantly higher xG total of 3.40 compared to Leipzig's 0.84.

Vincent Kompany's side had drawn their two previous fixtures against Augsburg and Viking. Bayern conceded first in both matches before recovering to secure 2-2 and 3-3 draws respectively.

The free-scoring Bundesliga champions have scored 11 goals in their last three games but conceded six during that run.

Before their surprise draw at Viking on Champions League matchday two, Bayern opened their European campaign with a commanding 5-0 win against another Norwegian side, Bodo/Glimt.

Arsenal Maintain Winning Form

Arsenal make the trip to Munich after a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

A late deflected strike from substitute Noni Madueke proved the difference as the Gunners edged to victory at the City ground.

Final match stats reflected a lacklustre display from the EPL champions. Arsenal controlled possession (74%) but were outshot 14-9 and recorded a low xG of just 1.07 compared to Forest's 0.75. Madueke's winner was their only effort on target.

While far from their best on Sunday, Mikel Arteta's side have remained ruthlessly efficient this season. The Gunners won all but one of 11 competitive fixtures since August.

Arteta's men's only defeat of the campaign was a surprise 3-0 defeat at Brighton before the international break. Since then, the English side have responded with successive wins against Leeds, Lille and Forest.

Arsenal also made a perfect start to their Champions League campaign, taking six points without conceding. The Londoners secured a fine 1-0 road win in Naples before their straightforward win against Lille.

Bayern Munich vs Arsenal Team News

Bayern Munich: (4-2-3-1) Jonas Urbig; Konrad Laimer, Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim, Nathaniel Brown; Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic; Serge Gnabry, Ismael Saibari, Luis Diaz; Harry Kane.

Bayern boss Kompany will be forced into at least one change to the side that swept past RB Leipzig. Michael Olise misses out after his dismissal against Viking on matchday two.

Former Arsenal forward Serge Gnabry could replace Oliseh in the first XI.

Jamal Musiala also remains sidelined with a thigh injury while Manuel Neuer is expected to miss out with a foot issue.

Arsenal: (4-2-3-1) David Raya; Jurrien Timber, Ezri Konsa, Gabriel Magalhaes, Riccardo Calafiori; Bruno Guimaraes, Declan Rice; Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze; Kai Havertz.

Head coach Arteta has three confirmed absentees for the trip to Munich. William Saliba, Piero Hincapie and Christos Tzolis remain unavailable with various injury issues.

Ezi Konsa and Gabriel are expected to continue their partnership in central defence.

Martin Zubimendi returned to the squad at Forest after recovering from an ankle problem.

Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz are expected to feature in the Gunners' attack on Wednesday.

Arteta praised Arsenal’s patience and the impact of his substitutes after Sunday's win at Nottingham Forest.

“We knew it would be the case, and last time we didn't manage to win the game, but we did today. We had to earn it until the last second.

“They are a well-coached team and hard to break down. We had to take risks; they are a dangerous team. We had to manage the emotional part really well. We stayed focused, and the finishers made a huge impact.”

Verdict

Both teams come into this fixture full of confidence, and an open, entertaining contest should unfold at the Allianz Arena.

I fancy BTTS, with a 2-2 draw also tipped at a big price.
