Como vs Manchester United Predictions

The Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia hosts an intriguing Champions League encounter on Wednesday as Como takes on Man Utd.

Como got back to winning ways last weekend, and with a strong home record, should trouble a vulnerable United defence.

BTTS is my first choice, while I also fancy Como to score at least two goals.

Como's Scoring Form Points to Goals

  • Como scored 2+ goals in 6 of their last 8 matches
  • Como have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 9 matches
  • Manchester United have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 6 matches
  • Manchester United conceded 2+ goals in 8 of their last 9 away matches (Champions League)

Como and United Set For First Meeting

Como and Manchester United will meet for the first time on Wednesday.

Como Bounce Back in Florence

Como return to the Sinigaglia after an excellent 3-1 victory against Fiorentina in Serie A on Sunday.

Mattia Liberali marked his first Serie A start with the opener before Nico Paz doubled the visitors' advantage in Florence.

Marin Pongracic pulled one back, but Tasos Douvikas secured victory in the second half for the visitors.

Cesc Fabregas's side proved more clinical in front of goal in a hard-fought road victory. Como had fewer shots (16-19) and recorded a lower xG total of 1.77 compared to the hosts' 2.25, but made the most of their chances at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Last Sunday's success ended a three-game winless run for I Lariani. Como slipped to defeat in their last two away games, including a 3-2 defeat at Feyenoord in their previous UCL contest.

Como had made a superb start to their maiden Champions League campaign, with a thumping 4-1 home win against RB Leipzig in September.

At home, Fabregas's men have been more reliable in 2026, with six wins and three draws picked up from their last ten games at the Sinigaglia.

Impressive in the forward areas, Como scored an average of exactly two goals per game in their first nine fixtures this season. However, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in all but one of their last ten competitive matches.

United's Winless Run Continues

Manchester United travel to Italy after picking up a valuable 1-1 draw at Leeds in the Premier League on Sunday.

Bryan Mbeumo gave the Red Devils a first-half lead before Dominic Calvert-Lewin levelled the contest with a superb second-half header.

Both teams had chances to secure maximum points, but a keenly contested derby ended with a fair share of the spoils.

Match stats reflected another unconvincing display from Michael Carrick's side. United had one more shot (13-12), but Leeds controlled possession (61%) and registered a higher xG total of 1.44 compared to the visitors' 0.91.

The Red Devils have now failed to win any of their last six matches, with three draws and three defeats recorded in that period. United have not won since a routine 4-0 win against Azerbaijan visitors Sabah in September.

On the road, United have failed to win any of five competitive fixtures this season. Carrick's men slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid in their previous UCL runout last week.

Past Champions League away fixtures have proved similarly fruitless. United lost six and won only two of nine away UCL encounters since 2020.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Como: (4-2-3-1) Jean Butez; Ivan Smolcic, Jacobo Ramon, Marc-Oliver Kempf, Alex Valle; Luis Milla, Maximo Perrone; Mattia Liberali, Nico Paz, Lucas Da Cunha; Tasos Douvikas.

Fabregas has two new injury worries to deal with this week. Trevoh Chalobah was forced off with an ankle problem after just 14 minutes at Fiorentina.

Yan Couto also pulled out during the warm-up in Florence, and both are unlikely to feature.

Assane Diao remains sidelined with a thigh injury, while Moise Kean faces a late fitness test.

Tasos Douvikas should continue to lead the attack after taking his tally for the season to five with Sunday's goal.

Manchester United: (4-2-3-1) Senne Lammens; Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, Diogo Dalot; Andrey Santos, Carlos Baleba; Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Youri Tielemans; Bryan Mbeumo.

Head coach Carrick will be forced into some changes to the side that began last week's defeat in Madrid. Leny Yoro is suspended following his red card against Atletico.

Fellow defender Lisandro Martinez could also miss out after being replaced at half-time against Leeds with a thigh problem.

Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu and Manuel Ugarte remain sidelined while Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo face late fitness tests.

Speaking after Sunday's draw at Leeds, Carrick praised his players' response in difficult circumstances.

“It was a tough game for both teams. There was an edge to the game. In little moments, we played some good football. It is maybe a bit understandable that it is a tough place to come.

“We had to work for it. I was proud of the boys for the way they went about that today in difficult circumstances.

“It is a bit more than effort. Application is the way you go about it as well, and the plan and the responsibility in the roles, and I thought the boys took that for the most part.”

Verdict

Como have scored at least twice in six of their nine competitive matches this season, including both Champions League fixtures.

With United potentially fatigued from a hard-fought draw at Leeds, the hosts could score at least twice in an entertaining matchup.

BTTS is my first pick, with a second stake placed on Como over 1.5 team goals.
