New England Revolution took control of second-place in the Eastern Conference with their win over Philadelphia, and they will want to ensure that they do not loosen their hold heading into the final few matches of the regular season.
Wins over Cincinnati (3-2) and Chicago Fire (1-0) preceded their battling 2-1 win over Philadelphia Union. This run is a timely return to form following a pair of 3-0 defeats at the hands of Real Salt Lake and Seattle Sounders. With maximum points coming from their last three, New England have found form heading into their final cluster of games.
With 32 points coming from a possible 45 at home, New England have impressed on their own patch as 10 victories and two draws have come alongside just three defeats. While Nashville have the outstanding home record in the MLS (W14, D1, L0), New England are not far behind, and I back them to add another win to their collection.
New York Red Bulls Form
New York Red Bulls desperately needed a win in their clash with Inter Miami after losing three of their previous four and winning just once.
Their 2-0 triumph over Miami may yet prove to be a big turning point, but they now take on the side that replaced Miami in second in the Eastern Conference. On the road, the Red Bulls have lost seven of their 15 while they have won five times and drawn three matches.
Positive for the travelling side is their record against New England. Across their last 10 they have won seven times in a very good run. This simply means that I am backing a close match as New York fail to make it two consecutive wins in the MLS as form this season comes into play.
Verdict
I am backing New England to secure an important victory as they extend their winning run to four matches.
