Basilashvili Looks To Extend His Perfect Week
Nikoloz Basilashvili defeated Jenson Brooksby in straight sets to book his place in the semifinals in Chengdu, winning 6-4, 7-6. Despite losing his serve once, he was comfortable throughout the match and never trailed at any stage.
This is his best result in Chengdu. Last year, he lost in the quarterfinals against Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets. It is also his first semifinal appearance since 2022.
His performance this week has been incredible so far, as he has won all five of his matches in straight sets, including those in the qualifying stages. Before arriving this week, however, he had endured a difficult stretch.
He had played 26 events across all levels this year before this week and registered multiple main-draw wins only once, reaching the fourth round in Rome. He now heads into this clash with a 9-6 record in tour-level semifinals in his career.

Davidovich Fokina Takes Confidence From Injury-Free Run
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina moved into the semifinals after defeating Alexandre Muller in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5. He fired eight aces and did not face a single break point during the match.
It is an encouraging result for the Spaniard, who was sidelined for two months before entering this week due to a back injury, but he has shown no signs of struggling so far.
He had a solid start to the year, including a semifinal appearance in Adelaide and a fourth-round run in Indian Wells, but a hamstring injury halted his progress and he struggled to find his usual level until the grass swing, where he won his maiden tour-level title and reached the fourth round at Wimbledon.
He owns a 6-7 career record in tour-level semifinals, including wins in three of his last four such matches.
