Leigh Wood (26-2, 16 KOs) defends the WBA featherweight title against Mauricio Lara (25-2-1, 18 KOs) at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England on Saturday, February 18.

Wood has rebounded from the second loss of his professional career with a three-fight win streak that has propelled him to a world title.
The 34-year-old Englishman knocked out Xu Can to win the WBA (regular) title in July 2021 and then stopped Michael Conlan in his first defence, before being upgraded to full champion when Leo Santa Cruz vacated his crown.
Wood now makes the first defence of his full WBA crown on February 18 and he will do it in his hometown of Nottingham, but can he give the home fans something to cheer?
Providing the opposition is Mexican fighter Mauricio Lara, who is no stranger to British fight fans.
The 24-year-old Mexican stunned British boxing in February 2021 when he crossed the Atlantic and became the first man to beat Josh Warrington, stopping the Leeds fighter in the ninth round of that contest.
That victory is part of a 15-fight unbeaten run that Lara is on and he will determined to make it 16 without loss to become a world champion for the first time in his fledgling career.
This could be a true tear up with the two fighters combining for 34 stoppage wins in their career, but will it be Wood who has his hand raised at the end of the fight or will Lara return home to his native Mexico as a world champion?
