Honda Classic Preview & Picks - Best PGA Tour Picks This Week

The PGA Tour returns to Palm Beach for the first leg of the Florida Swing with the Honda Classic up for grabs. Which player will emerge as the winner at PGA National come Sunday?
Sepp Straka returns to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Shane Lowry in 2022.
Past major winners in the line-up include Jimmy Walker, Danny Willett, Shane Lowry, Jason Dufner, Padraig Harrington, Zach Johnson, and Webb Simpson.
These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.
Sungjae Im
Sungjae Im produced an indifferent performance at the Genesis Invitational this past weekend and will be out to redeem himself.
Before that, the Korean had placed T8 at the Hero World Challenge, T13 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, MC at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T18 at the American Express, T4 at the Farmers Insurance Open and T6 at the WM Phoenix Open in six starts on the PGA Tour.
Other prominent performances from the 24-year-old last year include placing T11 at the American Express, T6 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T8 at the Masters, T14 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T15 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T10 at the Memorial Tournament, T2 at the 3M Open, T2 at the Wyndham Championship, 12th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T15 at the BMW Championship, T2 at the Tour Championship and 7th at the Shriners Children's Open.
He has a good record at the Honda Classic, placing T51 in 2019, victory in 2020, T8 in 2021 and MC in 2022.
Im has been close to adding another PGA Tour tournament to his resume and must fancy his chances to lift the trophy in this field.
Min Woo Lee
Min Woo Lee has been in top form in recent months by placing 3rd at the Open de Espana, 3rd at the Andalucia Masters, T8 at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, T12 at the DP World Tour Championship, T4 at the Australian PGA Championship, 3rd at the ISPS Handa Australian Open, T2 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and T13 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
Other results achieved by the 24-year-old last year include T26 at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play, T14 at the US Masters, T27 at the US Open, T21 at the Open Championship, and T26 at the Albertsons Boise Open (Korn Ferry Tour).
The Australian golfer is making his debut at this event.
Lee is making his first appearance of the year on the PGA Tour and has the form to make the frame as he comes into this tournament on the back of excellent results.
Chris Kirk
Chris Kirk had struggled with his performances on the PGA Tour between August and November last year before regaining his form with two excellent results at the start of 2023.
He placed 3rd at the Sony Open in Hawaii and T3 at the American Express before missing the cut at the WM Phoenix Open.
Other noteworthy results from last year include finishing T5 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T21 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T5 at the PGA Championship, T15 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T7 at the RBC Candian Open and T17 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
The American has had solid achievements in his last five starts at the Honda Classic, placing T33 in 2018, MC in 2019, MC in 2020, T25 in 2021 and T7 in 2022.
Kirk has had two top-three places in his last three tournaments and will be challenging for victory in Palm Beach if he can replicate those performances.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout
Christiaan Bezuidenhout had been enjoying an excellent run of results on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.
They include placing T20 at the Shriners Children's Open, T29 at the ZOZO Championship, T5 at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, T3 at the Joburg Open, T26 at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and T11 at the American Express in eight starts before missing the cut at the WM Phoenix Open and finishing T58 at the Genesis Invitational this past weekend.
Other notable highlights by the South African on the PGA Tour last year include placing T17 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T14 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T20 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T12 at the AT&T Byron Nelson, T15 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T2 at the John Deere Classic, T16 at the Genesis Scottish Open and T12 at the BMW Championship.
The 28-year-old finished T25 on his debut at the Honda Classic in 2022.
Bezuidenhout has yet to win a PGA Tour title in his career but has the form to upstage the others at the PGA National.
Verdict
Im will be out to make amends with his second victory in Palm Beach this weekend.
Lee has been knocking hard and will fancy his chances to win the Honda Classic come Sunday.
Kirk has gone close to winning recently and will be in contention at the PGA National.
Bezuidenhout could cause an upset and is a worthy long-shot value bet in Florida this weekend.
