LIV Golf Adelaide Preview & Picks - Bets Picks For Australia

The LIV Golf Series heads to Australia for the first time since its inception, with the players competing for the title in Adelaide. Who will this inaugural tournament Down Under?

These are our four selections that could lift the trophy this weekend.
Cameron Smith
Cameron Smith got off to the perfect start in 2023 by winning the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship (DP World Tour) before missing the cut at the ISPS Handa Australian Open (DP World Tour) and PIF Saudi International (Asian Tour).
However, the Australian bounced back with 6th at the 2023 LIV Golf Tour season opener at Mayakoba before finishing 26th in Tucson, 29th in Orlando and T34 at the Masters.
The 29-year-old joined the LIV Golf Invitational Series towards the end of the 2022 season, achieving excellent results by placing T4 in Boston, victory in Chicago, T41 in Bangkok and T21 in Jeddah.
Despite Smith's average performances lately, he has won in Australia this year and will be out to put another winning display in front of his home fans.
Dustin Johnson
Dustin Johnson has contested four tournaments in 2023, achieving decent results on the LIV Golf Tour by placing 37th in Mayakoba, 13th in Tucson, and 7th in Orlando before finishing a disappointing 48th at the recent Masters.
The former world number one was in tremendous form on the LIV Golf Invitational Series in 2022, placing 8th in London, T3 in Portland, T2 in Bedminster, victory in Boston, T2 in Chicago, T15 in Bangkok and 5th in Jeddah.
Johnson has shown improvement in each LIV Golf Tour tournament he has contested this year and can go all the way at the Grange Golf Club this weekend.
Patrick Reed
Patrick Reed has been in excellent form in 2023, placing 2nd Hero Dubai Desert Classic (DP World Tour) and T25 PIF Saudi International (Asian Tour) before returning for the start of the new LIV Golf Tour season.
Reed had a slow beginning by finishing 38th in Mayakoba and 18th in Tucson before returning to form by placing 4th in Orlando and at the recent Masters. His only blemish was at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship (DP World Tour), missing the cut in January.
The 32-year-old American was in great touch on the LIV Golf Tour last year, placing T3 in Portland, T5 in Bedminster, T31 in Boston, T12 in Chicago, 2nd in Bangkok and T12 in Jeddah.
Reed has been knocking hard and must fancy his chances to lift the trophy in Adelaide come Sunday after his performance at the Masters.
Marc Leishman
Marc Leishman is the long-shot value bet in Adelaide, as he has produced solid results this season.
Leishman made two appearances on the DP World Tour in Australia towards the end of last year, finishing T12 at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship and missing the cut at the ISPS Handa Australian Open before placing T6 at the PIF Saudi International (Asian Tour).
The Australian has been consistent on the 2023 LIV Golf Invitational Series thus far, placing 18th in Mayakoba, 17th at Tucson, and 28th in Orlando.
The 39-year-old's results on the LIV Golf Tour last year were average, finishing T26 in Boston, T44 in Chicago, T10 in Bangkok and T35 in Jeddah.
Leishman has been thereabouts and is playing on home soil, giving him the extra boost required to win his maiden LIV Golf title.
Format
An invitational field of 48 golfers will feature at the tournament, with a total purse of $25 million up for grabs. $4 million will go to the winner, while the player coming in last will pocket $120,000.
The players will contest 54 holes instead of the traditional 72 for all the LIV Golf Invitational Series events.
A shotgun start will occur, where the players will tee off simultaneously from different holes.
A 12-four-man team format will run concurrent, with the top three teams earning prize money.
Verdict
Johnson has the game to master the Grange Golf Club and another trophy in his cabinet.
Reed is in great touch and will be challenging for victory in Adelaide this weekend.
Leishman can take advantage of the local conditions and upstage the others.
