The 150th edition of the Open Championship returns to the home of golf, St Andrews, where the world's elite golfers will contest the final Major tournament of the year.
Who will tame the Old Course and lift the Claret Jug come Sunday?

All 50 of the world's top-ranked golfers are in the field for Thursday's start at the Old Course, with 36 past and present Major winners featuring.
These are our selections that could win the final Major tournament of the year.
Xander Schauffle
Xander Schauffle comes into the Open Championship with red hot form as he has captured the last two tournaments he has started.
He won the Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour and the Genesis Scottish Open this past weekend, which has seen him climb to fifth in the world golf rankings.
Before those victories, the American finished 12th at the Tournament of Champions, T34 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T18 at the Saudi International, T3 at the Phoenix Open and T13 at the Genesis Invitational.
Schauffle's next four starts were average, as he failed to make the cut at the Players Championship, finished T12 at the Valspar Championship, T35 at the WGc Dell Technologies Match Play and MC at the Masters.
He has been in great touch since, placing T5 at the AT&T Byron Nelson, T13 at the PGA Championship, T18 at the Memorial Tournament and T14 at the US Open.
The 28-year-old has played four times at the Open Championship in the past and achieved excellent results. He finished T20 in 2017, T2 at Carnoustie in 2018, T41 in 2019 and T26 in 2021.
Schauffle will be full of confidence that he can secure his first Major title after his recent performances.
Matt Fitzpatrick
Matt Fitzpatrick finished T6 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T10 at the Phoenix Open, T9 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and MC at the Players Championship.
The 27-year-old returned to form by finishing T5 at the Valspar Championship, T18 at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play and T14 at the Masters, but he missed the cut at the RBC Heritage.
He refound his touch by placing T2 at the Wells Fargo Championship, T5 at the PGA Championship, MC at the Memorial Tournament and T10 at the RBC Canadian Open.
Fitzpatrick cracked his maiden victory in America when he lifted the trophy at the US Open, moving eight places in the world rankings to 10th, and followed up with a credible T6 finish at the Genesis Scottish Open.
The Englishman has featured at the Open Championship on five occasions. He missed the cut in 2016, finished T44 in 2017, MC in 2018, placed T20 in 2020 and T26 last year.
Fitzpatrick is looking to become the first golfer since Tiger Woods' achievement in 2000 of winning the US Open and Open Championship back-to-back. Can he do it?
Jordan Spieth
Jordan Spieth's first nine PGA Tour tournament results for 2022 were good to average, with runner-up at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am the only early highlight.
The American then returned to winning ways when he claimed the RBC Heritage, and he carried that form into the AT&T Byron Nelson, finishing runner-up for the second time this year.
He could not replicate that form at the PGA Championship, finishing T34 overall, but bounced back with a solid T7 place at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Spieth had a good result at the Memorial Tournament, finishing T18 but did not produce any fireworks at the US Open, coming T37 overall. However, he showed promise with a T10 place at the recent Scottish Open.
The 28-year-old has an impressive record at the Open Championship, which includes placing T4 the last time the tournament was held at the Old Course in 2015, winning in 2017 at Royal Birkdale, T9 in 2018, T20 in 2019 and runner-up in last year's edition.
Spieth has shown over the years that he plays the links golf courses very well, and he will fancy his chances to lift the Claret Jug for the second time in his career after his performance in the Scottish Open.
Cameron Smith
Cameron Smith has not played as many tournaments as the other big-name players this year, but he has had impressive results.
He won the Sentry Tournament of Champions, MC at the Sony Open in Hawaii, placed T4 at the Saudi International, finished T33 at the Genesis Invitational and won his second tournament at the Players Championship.
He was in contention to win the Masters but had to settle for a credible T3 place.
Since then, the Australian has not been playing to the high level he showed at the beginning of the year around the greens, but he has produced decent results nonetheless.
He missed the cut at the RBC Heritage, finished T13 at the PGA Championship, T13 at the Memorial Tournament, T48 at the RBC Canadian Open, MC at the US Open and T10 at the Scottish Open this past weekend.
The sixth world-ranked golfer has played four times at the Open Championship, missing the cut in 2017, finishing 78th in 2018, T20 in 2020 and T33 last year.
Smith has been thereabouts in his last few starts and has won twice this year.
Verdict
Fitzpatrick has been producing excellent results all year round and can challenge for the second Major title of his career.
Spieth has an excellent record at the Open Championship and can challenge for the title at St Andrews this weekend.
Smith has shown in recent starts that he is threatening to produce another big performance and could make the frame in Scotland.
