Chicago head to Los Angeles on the back of defeat, but having won seven of their last nine games to improve their record to 9-6.
The Cubs opened the season in Japan, where they lost back-to-back meetings with the Dodgers, and then returned to the US to split a four-game series in Arizona.
They finished their travels on a strong note though as they swept the Athletics with 18-3, 7-4 and 10-2 wins.
Chicago then won their first two home games, beating San Diego 3-1 and 7-1, but they missed out on the series sweep as they dropped the final meeting 8-7.
The Cubs rebounded to record 7-0 and 10-6 wins over Texas, but they again missed out on a sweep as they lost the third game 6-2.
Los Angeles Dodgers Form
Los Angeles return home on the back of a rough road trip that saw them win just twice in six games to fall to 10-4.
The defending champion Dodgers opened the season with back-to-back wins in Japan, beating the Chicago Cubs 4-1 and 6-3.
They then swept Detroit and Atlanta in back-to-back home series, beating the Tigers 5-4, 8-5 and 7-3 before downing the Braves 6-1, 3-1 and 6-5.
Los Angeles’ run ended at eight games as they lost 3-2 in Philadelphia, and they then failed to build on a 3-1 win over the Phillies as they lost the final meeting 8-7.
That was followed by 6-4 and 8-2 losses in Washington, but the Dodgers were able to avoid being swept as they took the last game 6-5.
Verdict
Los Angeles have cooled off over the past several days, but that was on the road.
The Dodgers have been dominant at home this season and Yamamoto has posted a 1.68 ERA so far, so we are backing LA to get back on track.
