The Athletics issued a great response though, beating the Los Angeles 6-5, 5-4 and 3-1 on the road before losing the last meeting, 8-6.
San Francisco Giants Form
San Francisco came into this series on the back of a four-game series sweep of Colorado at home.
The Giants entered the All-Star break on the back of a 3-2 win over Minnesota, but they struggled when they returned to action.
They lost 7-3 and 4-3 in Colorado, and then failed to back up a 3-2 victory over the Rockies as they lost 3-2 and 5-2 on the road at the Los Angeles Dodgers.
San Francisco took the third meeting with the Dodgers, 8-3, only to immediately return to losing ways with a 6-4 loss in the series finale.
The Giants did bounce back against Colorado however, as they returned home to sweep the Rockies with 11-4, 4-1, 5-0 and 5-4 wins.
Verdict
Oakland have been on a roll recently and have been piling up runs during this time.
They now face a pitcher who has traditionally struggled against them, so we like the underdog A's.
