The Pirates’ losing skid reached four games with a 10-8 defeat in Cleveland, and they then failed to build on a 3-0 victory as they lost the final meeting with the Guardians, 6-1.

Chicago come into this series on a good run of form, having won nine of their last 10 games and all six of their outings last week.
The Cubs started this sequence with a 10-2 win at home to Detroit, which was backed up by 6-3 and 14-2 victories in Miami.
They missed out on the series sweep as they lost the final meeting 7-2, but they responded well to that defeat, winning six straight.
Chicago travelled to Pittsburgh and swept the Pirates in a three-game series, winning 18-8, 9-5 and 14-10.
The Cubs then followed that up as they travelled to Washington to win all three meetings with the Nationals, recording 7-6, 5-3 and 14-1 victories.
Verdict
Chicago are on a roll and just swept Pittsburgh last week, so we like the Cubs in the opening game of this series.
