The main event of this latest UFC Fight Night card features two top-five fighters in the heavyweight division – Sergei Pavlovich and Curtis Blaydes.

Pavlovich has rebounded from the sole defeat of his career, a second round stoppage at the hands of MMA legend Alistair Overeem back in November 2018. The 30-year-old Russian has reeled off five consecutive wins to climb to #3 in the rankings, stopping all five of those opponents with strikes.

The biggest win of his career came in July of last year, when he beat Derrick Lewis in the Houston fighter’s hometown. And not only did he beat ‘The Black Beast’, he took him out in emphatic fashion with a 55-second stoppage.

Pavlovich will now look to make it six wins in a row on Saturday night, but standing in his way is the number four ranked heavyweight fighter, Curtis Blaydes.

Blaydes has bounced back from his knockout loss to Derrick Lewis in February 2021 by winning three straight fights. He beat Jairzinho Rozenstruik by decision before recording TKO victories over both Chris Daukaus and Tom Aspinall in 2022, and that has put him right back into title contention.

So who will take a step closer to challenging for the UFC heavyweight crown – Pavlovich or Blaydes?
