They were beaten 112-109 at home by New York before heading out on the road to lose 130-93 in Charlotte.
Philadelphia responded in emphatic fashion though, as they returned home to down Milwaukee 139-122, Sacramento 113-111 and New Orleans 124-114.
The Pelicans them made it five wins in a row as they went out on the road to beat the LA Clippers 128-113 and Golden State 113-95.
Los Angeles Lakers Form
Los Angeles come into this matchup having dropped a couple of games recently, but in decent form with six wins in their last nine games.
The Lakers responded to back-to-back defeats in the middle of January with wins over Toronto, 110-93, and Denver, 115-107.
They then bounced back from a 112-104 loss at the LA Clippers with road successes against Dallas, 116-110, and Chicago, 129-118.
Los Angeles failed to make it three-in-a-row as they lost 129-99 in Cleveland, but they did rebound immediately with a 142-111 blowout of the Wizards in Washington.
The Lakers then fell 112-100 in New York, only to wrap up that long road trip with a 125-109 victory at Brooklyn.
Verdict
Philadelphia are the team in better form, but the absence of Joel Embiid could be a problem.
