Dallas lost 3-1 in Anaheim, 2-1 at Utah and 4-1 at home to Tampa Bay, before snapping that skid with a 6-2 success against Boston.
The Stars failed to backed that up as they lost 1-0 in Columbus, but they did respond immediately with a couple of victories against St Louis, winning 3-2 at home and 4-3 on the road.

Vegas enter this matchup having cooled off over the past couple of weeks, losing four of their previous five games.
The Golden Knights also endured a bad run over the festive period, losing five straight, but they came roaring back in early 2026 as they won seven straight.
That run was ended 10 days ago though, as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Philadelphia, and they then fell to a 4-3 defeat when they visited Boston.
Vegas avoided a third straight loss as they downed the Maple Leafs in Toronto, 6-3, but they have not won since.
The Golden Knights wrapped up their road trip with a 7-1 blowout loss in Ottawa, and a 3-2 overtime defeat at the hands of Montreal.
