The Avalanche blew out the Red Wings in Detroit on Saturday night, and now they can make the most of home advantage against a team that they have dominated in recent years.

Detroit head to Colorado on a three-game losing skid and having just lost to the Avalanche at home.
The Pistons enjoyed some good form in January as they won eight times in a 10-game spell – a run that began with a four-game streak.
They beat Ottawa 5-3, Vancouver 5-1, Montreal 4-0 and Carolina 4-3 during that run, and then answered a 3-0 loss at Boston with a three-game win streak.
Detroit downed San Jose, 4-2, Ottawa, 4-3, and Toronto, 2-1, before rebounding from a 4-3 defeat in Minnesota with a 5-1 blowout of the Jets in Winnipeg.
The Red Wings have not won since though, returning home to fall 3-1 to Los Angeles, 4-3 to Washington and 5-0 to Colorado.
Colorado Avalanche Form
Colorado return home on the back of a victory, but they are in underwhelming form with just three wins coming in their last nine games.
They Avalanche have not strung together victories since the first half of January, when they beat Ottawa 8-2 and Columbus 4-0 at home.
Those wins were followed by a 4-3 loss to Toronto and a 7-3 defeat to Nashville, and they then failed to back up a 5-2 in against Washington as they fell 2-1 to Anaheim and 7-3 to Philadelphia.
Colorado avoided a third straight loss as they won 4-1 in Toronto, but they again failed to follow up a victory as they lost 5-2 in Ottawa and 7-3 in Montreal.
The Avalanche did wrap up that road trip in positive fashion though, shutting out Detroit in a 5-0 victory on Saturday.
Verdict
Colorado’s form is poor, but they did just blow out the Red Wings on the road.
That victory continued the Avalanche’s recent dominance of Detroit, and we are expecting that to continue with the Avs now back at home.
