Canada are tipped to run away with their opening match at the World Championship.
The Canadians boast a loaded roster headlined by Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon, so we expect them to power past the Slovenians.

Slovenia Form
Slovenia go into their opening game of the tournament on a mixed run of form, having gone 3-3 in the six games they have played so far this year.
They opened the year with back-to-back defeats in the space of 24 hours, losing 3-1 to both Hungary and Poland.
The Slovenians rallied to win the final game of that three-day run of matchups, beating Italy 3-0, only to quickly return to losing ways way they returned to action in April.
They were beaten 2-1 by Poland and 5-2 by Denmark, but have so far enjoyed better form in May, beating Hungary 4-2 and Kazakhstan 3-2.
Slovenia will now make their first appearance in a World Championship since 2023, when they lost all seven of their group games and were relegated.
Canada Form
Canada enter the 2025 Ice Hockey World Championship as a favorite to go all the way and lift the trophy.
They lifted this trophy in 2023, when they beat Germany 5-2 in the final, but they were unable to successfully defend that crown a year ago.
The Canadians' quest for another world title was ended by a 3-2 semi-final loss to Switzerland, and they then fell to a 4-2 defeat to Sweden in the third place game.
They will look to put that disappointment behind them this time around, and they go into their opening game on the back of a couple of comfortable warm-up wins.
Canada downed Austria 5-1 in their first outing of 2025, and then backed that up with a 6-0 shutout of Hungary.
Verdict
Canada were quick out of the blocks a year ago, and we expect repeat scenes here.
