Rocket Mortage Classic Preview & Picks
The players head to Michigan for the latest round of the PGA Tour to vie for the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Who will emerge the winner come Sunday?

Cameron Davis returns to defend his title after winning in a playoff in 2021.

Past Major winners in the field include Keegan Bradley, Stewart Cink, Jason Day, Lucas Glover, Zach Johnson, Davis Love III, Geoff Ogilvy, Adam Scott, Webb Simpson, Danny Willett and Gary Woodland.

These are our selections that could win the title this weekend.

Patrick Cantlay

Patrick Cantlay has been in impressive form throughout the year with the results to show for his efforts.

Cantlay placed 4th fourth at the Tournament of Champions, 9th at the American Express, T4 at the AT&T Pebble Beach and runner-up at the Phoenix Open.

The 30-year-old golfer's following four tournaments were average by his standards, finishing T33, MC, T26 and T39 before going on a run of excellent results.

The world's 4th ranked golfer won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, was runner-up at the RBC Heritage, MC at the PGA Championship and placed T3 at the Memorial Tournament.

The American continued his excellent form when he finished T14 at the US Open, T13 at the Travelers Championship, T4 at the Genesis Scottish Open and T8 at the 150th Open Championship.

He is making his debut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Cantlay has won once in 2022 and has shown he is in great touch lately to secure another title.

Will Zalatoris

Will Zalatoris started his year in fine form with a T6 place at the American Express and runner-up at the Farmers Insurance Open.

He played decent golf in his next three starts, with finishes of T26 at the Genesis Invitational, T38 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T26 at the Players Championship.

The 13th world-ranked golfer returned to the form he showed at the beginning of the year, placing T5 at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play and T6 at the Masters.

The 25-year-old missed the cut at the AT&T Byron Nelson but bounced back with a runner-up place at the PGA Championship.

Zalatoris was poor at the Charles Schwab Challenge, missing the cut but refound his touch around the greens with a T5 place at the Memorial Tournament and an excellent T2 finish at the US Open.

The American golfer finished 77th in his only appearance at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in 2021.

Zalatoris has been close to securing his maiden PGA Tour title on numerous occasions this year. Can he finally do it?

Cameron Young

Cameron Young missed the cut in his opening tournament of 2022 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, followed by finishes of T40, T20 at the Farmers Insurance Open and T26 at the Phoenix Open.

Young came close to securing his maiden PGA Tour title when he placed T2 overall at the Genesis Invitational, followed by T16 at the Honda Classic and T13 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The American's form dipped in his subsequent three events, missing the cut at the Players Championship, finishing T35 at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play and missing the cut at the Masters.

The 25-year-old revived the form he had shown before those results by placing T3 at the RBC Heritage, T2 at the Wells Fargo Championship and T3 at the PGA Championship.

In the run-up to the 150th Open Championship, Young's form was poor, finishing T60 at the Memorial Tournament and missing the cut at the US Open and Scottish Open before putting a brilliant performance at the Old Course when he finished runner-up behind Cameron Smith.

The 19th world-ranked player is making his debut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Young has every chance to win in Michigan this weekend after his recent performance at the Open Championship.

Mark Hubbard

Mark Hubbard has appeared on the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour this year and has achieved excellent results.

Hubbard missed the cut in his opening two events before finishing T33 at the AT&T Pebble Beach, T6 at the LECOM Suncoast Classic, 15th at the Honda Classic, and T38 at the Puerto Rico Open and T5 Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS.

The 33-year-old missed the cut at the Corales Puntacana Championship but returned to the form he showed earlier with a T9 place at the Club Car Championship at The Landings Club and T9 at the Veritex Bank Championship.

Hubbard's subsequent seven tournaments were mediocre, finishing T51, MC, and T32 at the AT&T Byron Nelson, T52, T29, T44 and T46.

The American's form on the greens showed improvement at the John Deere Classic, finishing T13, and he has maintained his level of play with an excellent 3rd at the Barbasol Championship and 4th at the Barracuda Championship.

He has featured twice at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, finishing T12 on his debut in 2020 and missing the cut in 2021.

Hubbard has finished inside the top five twice in his last two tournaments on the PGA Tour and can be in the mix to lift the trophy come Sunday.

Verdict

Cantlay has been in impressive form and will fancy his chances to win another PGA Tour title.

Zalatoris has been thereabouts all year and can make the frame at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Young has been knocking hard and can go close in Detroit.

Hubbard has excellent form coming into this tournament and is the long-shot value bet for the weekend.
