Atlanta Braves at San Francisco Giants Picks & Betting Tips

Atlanta (76-70) is trending in the wrong direction having lost four straight games and 6 of 10 overall.

The Braves sit atop of the NL East but they are now just one game ahead of the surging Philadelphia Phillies.

Atlanta is 39-34 on the road and 53-53 vs. RHPs.

Fried has been excellent in the second half of the season, compiling a 5-2 record with a 2.19 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 9.1 K/9. He has held opponents to two or fewer runs in eight of his last 11 starts this season.

San Francisco (97-52) has the best record in the majors, although the Giants hold just a two-game advantage over the Dodgers in the NL West.

The Giants have won two straight games and are 8-2 in the last 10.

San Francisco is 49-25 at home and 27-19 against LHPs.

DeSclafani has alternated good and poor outings over the last four appearances. The 31-year-old held San Diego to one run on three hits in his last outing (Sept. 14) and has allowed just four runs and 12 hits over 17 innings in his last three starts.

Head To Head

San Francisco defeated Atlanta 2-0 on Saturday night as seven Giants’ pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout. Curt Casali drove in both Giants’ runs with a fourth inning single.

The Giants have won two straight games against the Braves and lead the season-series 3-2. The Braves have outscored the Giants 20-18 over the first five games.

San Francisco Giants Form

The Giants are 13-4 in September, outscoring their opponents 106-63.

The Giants’ pitching staff has compiled a 11-3 record during this 14-game stretch with a 3.38 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and .242 OBA.

Like the first two games in the series, this contest should be outstanding. Both Fried and DeSclafani pitched when the teams played in Atlanta. Fried didn’t receive a decision in the Braves 6-5 victory over the Giants as he allowed four runs on five hits in 6 innings. Meanwhile, DeSclafani lasted only 3 innings in his start versus Atlanta (9-0 loss), permitting two home runs and three runs.

Atlanta is in poor form. The Braves have struggled at the plate over the last week and are hitting just .197 with 20 in the two games at Oracle Park. They have also have not hit well on the road or against right-handed starters. Fried has pitched pretty well on the road and during day games.

San Francisco continues to be in fantastic form. The Giants are the most complete team in the majors, and they have been raking at the plate over the last couple of weeks. DeSclafani has pitched well at home but has not fared well during day games (6.26 ERA).
