Both teams are coming off an off day on Monday.

Philadelphia (81-75) sits just 2.5 games behind first -place Atlanta in the NL East. The Phillies have won five of six games and are 7-3 in last 10. The Phillies are 34-41 on the road and 58-48 vs. RHPs.

Atlanta (83-72) magic number to clinch the NL East is at five with seven games left. The Braves have won three straight and are 7-3 in last 10. Atlanta is 37-37 at home and 60-54 against RHPs.

Morton is coming off a 3-run, 5-hit. 8-strikeout performance over 6 innings in a 6-4 loss to Arizona the last time out (Sept. 23). Morton has allowed three or fewer runs in five straight games and 13 of 14.

This series will likely decide the NL East winner. Both teams enter in good form as they have been hitting and pitching well lately. This game has all the making of a pitching duel, although Wheeler holds the advantage over Morton.

Wheeler is throwing the ball the best he has in three months and has been dominant against the Braves, posting a 2-1 record as he has allowed just four runs in 26.2 innings of work while striking out 34. He also has held the current members of the Braves team to a .197 batting average in his career.

Morton, who has allowed seven runs in his past two starts at Truist Field, has been average at best at home this year (4.00 ERA). Morton also only has had mediocre success against the Phillies this year, allowing 12 runs over four games although only six of those runs were earned.
