Israel Adesanya boasts a 22-1 record in his MMA career, with his sole loss coming outside of the weight class he has dominated.
‘The Last Stylebender’ has established himself as the best middleweight fighter on the planet since arriving in the UFC.
He reeled off five straight victories to quickly force his way into title contention, beating Anderson Silva and Derek Brunson along the way.
In April 2019 he claimed the interim title by earning a decision win over Kelvin Gastelum.
Then, six months later, he became undisputed champion by knocking out Robert Whittaker in the second round.
Adesanya bested Yoel Romero over five rounds in his first successful defence and then knocked out Paulo Costa in the second round of his second defence.
After that bout he attempted to become a two-weight champion but came up short in a decision loss to then-light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz.
The 32-year-old New Zealander immediately bounced back though, registering a decision win over Marvin Vettori in his first fight back at 185lbs.
He then earned another decision victory in the fourth defence of his crown back in February.
Adesanya went five rounds with former champion Robert Whittaker before getting the nod from the judges.

Jared Cannonier has won five of his six fights since dropping down to middleweight, earning him this title shot.
Cannonier debuted in the UFC at heavyweight and after going 1-1 in his first two fights he moved down to light-heavyweight.
That did not bring about an upturn in fortunes though as he went 2-3, with his final outing at 205lbs ending in a knockout loss to Dominick Reyes.
The 38-year-old American responded to that loss by dropping down yet another weight class to try to salvage his UFC career.
So far it has been a decision that has paid off for Cannonier.
He knocked out David Branch in the second round and earned ‘Performance of the Night’ honours in his middleweight debut.
Cannonier then stopped the legendary Anderson Silva in the first round and finished Jack Hermansson in the second for the first three-fight win streak of his UFC career.
His momentum stalled in the next outing though, as he dropped a three-round decision to former champion Robert Whittaker.
He quickly rebounded however, recording a decision win over ex-interim champion Kelvin Gastelum last August.
Cannonier then made it back-to-back wins in February by stopping Derek Brunson in the second round, taking his record to 15-5.
