Marion Reneau vs Miesha Tate Predictions & Tips

Miesha Tate can make a winning return to the UFC after a four-plus year retirement.

Marion Reneau has lost 4 straight fights, has not won for over 3 years and is set to hang up her gloves after this bout.

This could be a good match-making for Tate – if she still has something in the tank she can take this.

  • Miesha Tate has won by decision more times than any other method (8 decision wins)
  • Miesha Tate won by decision 4 times in the 5-fight win streak that won her the title

  • Marion Reneau’s 7 career defeats have all come via decision

Marion Reneau Form

Marion Reneau has confirmed she will retire after this fight so she will be desperate to end her skid.

Reneau made a winning start to her UFC career by beating Alexis Dufresne and Jessica Andrade, but her momentum then stalled.

Losses to Holly Holm and Ashlee Evans-Smith followed, and after she returned to winning ways against Milana Dudieva she went to a majority draw with Bethe Correia.

Reneau bounced back with wins over Talita Bernaardo and Sara McMann, but she has not won since.

The 44-year-old has gone the distance in 4 straight fights, but she has not had her hand raised in any of them.

Her most recent outing, back in March, saw her lose to Macy Chiasson, and that defeat has left her with a 9-7-1 record.

Reneau has 8 stoppage wins on her record, while 7 of her 8 fights that have gone the distance have ended in defeat.

Miesha Tate Form

Miesha Tate was one of the pioneers of women’s MMA that opened the door to females fighting in the UFC.

She became Strikeforce bantamweight champion almost 10 years ago to the date of this fight with Marion Reneau.

She lost the belt to Ronda Rousey in what would be the start of a famous rivalry between the pair.

Tate struggled early in the UFC, losing 2 of her first 3 fights, but she rebounded with a 5-fight win streak that propelled her to the title.

She bested Liz Carmouche, Rin Nakai, Sara McMann and Jessica Eye in decision wins to earn a crack at then bantamweight champion Holly Holm.

Her challenge looked set to end in defeat as she trailed on the scorecards in the final round. Tate went for broke though and tapped out Holm with just 90 seconds left in the fight.

Tate was taken out in the first round by Amanda Nunes in her first defence, and then retired after dropping a decision to Raquel Pennington.

She returns with an 18-7 record that features 3 KO wins, 7 submission wins and 8 decision victories.

She has been knocked out twice, submitted 3 times and lost on the judges’ scorecards twice.
