Duke vs Arkansas Preview & Picks

Arkansas are tipped to cover as an underdog in the Elite Eight.

The Razorbacks are very efficient at getting to the line and converting their free throw attempts.

And just like Duke, they are capable of piling up the points after hanging 74 on #1 Gonzaga.

This is likely to turn into a shootout, with Arkansas backed to take this right down to the wire.

  • Arkansas are 9-2 in their last 11 games
  • Arkansas are 5-1-0 ATS as a betting underdog this season
  • Duke are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games
  • The Over has hit in 7 of Arkansas’ last 9 games
  • The Over has hit in 8 of Duke’s last 9 games
  • The two teams combine for 156.3 points per game

Head To Head

  • Duke lead the all-time series 2-1
  • Arkansas won 76-72 when the teams last met in 1994

Duke Form

Duke have bounced back from their conference tournament disappointment to make it to the Elite Eight of March Madness.

The Blue Devils downed Syracuse 88-79 and Miami (FL) 80-76 as they made it to the final of the ACC conference tournament.

They fell at the final hurdle though, losing 82-67 to Virginia Tech in Brooklyn.

Duke rebounded in the opening round of March Madness though, easing past Cal State Fullerton 78-61.

They then followed that up with an 85-76 win against Michigan State before eliminating #12 Texas Tech, 78-73, in the Sweet 16.

All five starters hit double digits in scoring in the victory over the Red Raiders, with Paolo Banchero leading the way with 22 points.

Mark Williams put up 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while AJ Griffin had 11 points and seven boards.

Duke are shooting 49.2% from the field to rank third in the nation, and they are averaging 80.2 points per game to rank sixth nationally.

The Blue Devils are allowing opponents to shoot 44.9% from the floor, giving up 67.4 points per game.

Arkansas Form

Arkansas booked their place in the Elite Eight of March Madness with a stunning upset of #1 Gonzaga.

The Razorbacks did not come into the national tournament in particularly good form, having lost two of their previous games.

They ended the regular season with a 78-74 loss to #13 Tennessee and managed just one win in the SEC conference tournament before bowing out.

Arkansas downed Louisiana State 79-67 before suffering a convincing 82-64 defeat at the hands of Texas A&M.

They made sure there would be no early exit from March Madness as they beat Vermont 75-71 and New Mexico State 53-48.

The Razorbacks got their offense firing again on Thursday, and it was perfect timing for them.

Arkansas upset #1 Gonzaga 74-68, with JD Notae and Jaylin Williams playing lead roles in the upset.

Notae had 21 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Williams registered 15 points and 12 boards in a double double.

Arkansas are shooting 43.4% from the field, while averaging 76.1 points per game.

The Razorbacks allow opponents to shoot 42.8% from the floor to rank #16 in the nation. They are giving up 68.0 points per game.

Verdict

Duke are the better team on paper but they have been struggling to cover in recent weeks.

Arkansas have been outstanding in the role of underdog and just KO’d the number one team, so we are backing the Razorbacks against the spread.

Spread – Arkansas +4.0 @ -110
Total Points – Over 147.5 @ -110
