California at Oregon Picks & Betting Tips

Oregon can bounce back from last weekend’s surprise defeat to Stanford.

The loss was a huge letdown for a Ducks team who had climbed to #3 in the rankings with a 4-0 start.

They should have too much for the 1-4 California though, and they should cover the spread.

  • Oregon have a 4-1 record
  • Oregon have a 3-0 home record
  • Oregon are 18-1 at home under head coach Mario Cristobal
  • California have a 1-4 record
  • California have not beaten an FBS opponent this season

Head To Head

  • The all-time series is tied at 39-39-1
  • California won 21-17 when the two teams met last season
  • Oregon have won their last 6 home meetings with California

California Form

California arrive having lost back-to-back games to fall to 1-4 for the season.

The Golden Bears began the season with a couple of narrow defeats to Nevada (22-17) and Texas Christian (34-32).

They then put their first win on the board by beating Sacramento State 42-30 at home.

They returned to losing ways after that though, falling to Washington (31-24) and Washington State (21-6).

QB Chase Garbers has gone 107/170 for 1,245 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions. He has rushed for 191 yards and two scores.

Damien Moore leads the team in rushing with 313 yards and five touchdowns, adding 50 yards and other score in the receiving game.

Trevon Clark is the team’s top receiver with 322 yards and two scores.

Oregon Form

Oregon are looking to bounce back from a surprise first defeat of the season.

The Ducks began the season with a 31-24 win over Fresno State and then upset #3 Ohio State on the road, winning 35-28.

A 48-7 blow-out of Stony Brook followed before they reached 4-0 with a routine win over Arizona (41-19).

However, Oregon’s perfect start came to a shuddering halt last weekend with a 31-24 loss at Stanford.

QB Anthony Brown has gone 70/124 for 959 yards, seven touchdowns and an interception. He has also showcased his dual threat with 198 rushing yards and four TDs.

CJ Verdell is the team’s leading rusher with 397 yards and five scores, but he is sidelined here.

The good news for the Ducks is that backup Travis Dye is available. He has 382 rushing yards and three TDs, as well as 80 receiving yards.

Oregon’s offense has not been explosive in the passing game with only three players over 100 yards in receiving.

Verdict

Oregon had a shocker a week ago but history is unlikely to repeat itself this weekend.

The Ducks have been almost flawless at home under Mario Cristobal and that form should continue here.
