Stanford at USC Picks & Betting Tips

USC can win the latest instalment of this Pac-12 rivalry on Saturday night.

While the Trojans opened with a win, Stanford’s offense spluttered out of the gate in Week 1.

Their run game was non-existent in that game and they still have question marks over the starting QB. USC have no such issues.

The Trojans made plays on both sides of the football and can do the same again here to cover.

  • USC beat San Jose State 30-7 in their season opener
  • USC covered with a 9.5 differential in Week 1
  • USC have won 3 of their last 4 home meetings with Stanford
  • Stanford lost 24-7 to Kansas State in Week 1
  • Stanford managed just 39 yards rushing in their season opener
  • Stanford managed only 233 yards of total offense in Week 1

Head To Head

  • USC leads the all-timer series 61-32-3
  • USC won 45-20 when the two teams last met in September 2019

Stanford Form

Stanford have been on a downturn in recent years and it continued with a season-opening loss.

The Cardinal were impotent on offense as they fell to a 24-7 loss to Kansas State, with their only scoring coming in garbage time.

They managed just 39 yards rushing and 233 yards of total offense in the loss.

Defensively they were not much better. They were gashed on the ground for 300 yards and three touchdowns.

USC Form

USC exploded into life in the fourth quarter to down San Jose State 30-7 in their season-opener.

Kedon Slovis was efficient at QB, completing 66.7% of his pass attempts for 256 yards and two touchdowns.

Drake London was his number one target, hauling in 12 catches for 137 yards. Keaontay Ingram and Vavae Malepeai combined for 151 yards on the ground.

On defense they allowed just 68 yards rushing. That bodes well for this meeting with a Stanford offense that was toothless in the run game in Week 1.

Stanford have had the better of USC over the past decade but the tide is now turning.

The Trojans showed promise on both sides of the football in Week 1 and they can build on that with another win here.
