Los Angeles Chargers at Baltimore Ravens Picks & Betting Tips

This could be another high-scoring game involving LA so we may see the Over again.

These two offenses are tailor-made to capitalise on the opposition’s weakness so the points could pile up.

Baltimore can control the pace with the run game, but LA have an offense that can produce big plays.

The Chargers have more weapons on offense though, so I lean towards them springing an ‘upset’.

  • Los Angeles Chargers are 2-0 on the road this season
  • Los Angeles Chargers rank #7 in the NFL in points scored per game (28.4)
  • Baltimore Ravens rank #9 in the NFL in points scored per game (27.2)
  • The Over has hit in 3 of Baltimore’s 5 games so far
  • The Over has hit in 6 of Los Angeles’ last 8 game against teams with a winning record

Head To Head

  • Baltimore Ravens lead the all-time series 7-6
  • Los Angeles Chargers won 23-17 when the teams last met in 2019

Los Angeles Chargers Form

Los Angeles have established themselves as a contender with four wins from their first five games.

The Chargers opened with a 20-16 win at Washington but fell to a 20-17 defeat at home to Dallas a week later.

They rebounded in the best possible fashion with a huge 30-24 win over AFC West rivals Kansas City.

LA then followed that up with a 28-14 victory over Las Vegas and 47-42 shootout win over Cleveland.

QB Justin Herbert is 139/207 for 1,576 yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also has a rushing score.

RB Austin Ekeler is a dual threat out of the backfield with 543 yards from scrimmage and seven TDs.

Mike Williams leads the team in receiving with 471 yards and six touchdowns. Keenan Allen (369 yards, one TD) and Jared Cook (210 yards, one TD) have been key contributors too.

The offense has needed to fire though, because this defense has been giving up an average of 23.2 points per game.

Baltimore Ravens Form

Baltimore have bounced back from losing their season-opener by winning four straight games.

The Ravens lost in overtime in Las Vegas on opening night, 33-27, but just like LA they rebounded at Kansas City’s expense.

They beat the Chiefs 36-35 at home before scraping past Detroit, 19-17, thanks to a record-setting field goal from 66 yards out as time expired.

Baltimore made more straightforward work of their 23-7 win over Denver a week later, before fighting back from 25-9 down in the fourth quarter to beat Indianapolis 31-25 in overtime.

Lamar Jackson was sensational in that win, going 37/43 for 442 yards and four TDs. He also had 62 yards rushing.

For the season, Jackson is now 112/167 for 1,519 yards, eight touchdowns and three picks. He has rushed for a further 341 yards and two TDs.

RBs Latavius Murray and Ty’Son Williams have combined for 311 yards from scrimmage and five TDs.

Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews have been Jackson’s favorite targets in the passing game. Brown has 451 yards and five TDs, while Andrews has 400 yards and two scores.

An alarming stat is Baltimore’s need to fight back in games. They have been forced to come from behind in three of their four wins.

  • S Geno Stone (thigh) - Questionable
  • T Alejandro Villaneuva (knee) - Questionable

Verdict

Los Angeles and Baltimore have the weapons to punish their opponents’ weakness so we could see plenty of points here.

LA may provide the majority of them. Herbert is in outstanding form and this Chargers offense may be uncatchable if the Ravens dig themselves into a hole yet again.
