Is it Legal to Bet in Nevada?

Gambling has been legal in the state of Nevada for decades. It remains the leading sports betting state in the country with almost all casinos offering a sportsbook.

Online sports betting is available through phone apps but sports bettors have to sign up in person for an account. The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) is reconsidering this policy and may change it in the early months of 2019.

Nevada was one of the first states to allow online poker after the Department of Justice issued a re-interpretation of the Wire Act. Players can easily sign up for an online poker account, so the objections to creating an online account for sports betting are falling away.

Online and mobile sports betting now account for over half of all sports wagers placed in the state.
