Alabama Form
Alabama head to ‘Death Valley’ having snapped a two-game losing sequence to improve their record to 6-2.
The Crimson Tide opened with a 48-10 blowout of East Carolina, and then kicked off their SEC slate with a 45-17 success at Kentucky.
They made it three-in-a-row with a 50-36 non-conference success against Florida State, before returning to SEC duty to down South Carolina 49-18 at home, and Mississippi State 56-23 on the road.
However, Alabama’s perfect start was halted by a 20-17 home defeat to Georgia, and they then suffered a 26-10 defeat on the road in Tennessee.
The Crimson Tide avoided a third straight defeat though, as they beat Texas A&M 31-20 last time out.
LSU Form
LSU return from their weekend off with a 6-2 record thanks to back-to-back victories before their break.
The Tigers kicked off the campaign with a couple of blowout wins against non-conference opponents, beating Clemson 51-10 and Louisiana Tech 45-14 at home.
They failed to keep that run going in their SEC opener as they were beaten 32-24 at Ole Miss, but they did rebound a week later to down Texas A&M, 35-6.
LSU then crushed overmatched McNeese State, 63-14, but when they returned to conference action they were beaten 35-34 at Kentucky.
The Tigers quickly rebounded though, following up a 31-0 shutout of Mississippi State with a 38-17 success at Auburn.
Verdict
You could make a case for both teams here, but we have seen more consistency from LSU’s offense and they do have the better defense.
Pair that with home advantage and the Tigers are the team to back in this critical SEC clash.
