The Lions enjoyed a winning start to the season as they beat New Orleans 31-30 in overtime, but they struggled for consistency over the first several weeks.
They lost 41-31 in Buffalo, and then failed to back up a 31-24 success against the New York Jets as they fell 32-26 in Carolina.
Detroit responded to that second loss with a 45-21 blowout of Arizona on the road, and that proved to be the start of an improved run that has seen them record back-to-back division wins.
The Lions beat Green Bay 20-17 thanks to a walk-off field goal, and then ended Minnesota’s unbeaten start to the season with a 19-15 victory.
Miami Dolphins Form
Miami enter this matchup having failed to back up their first win of the season, falling to 1-6 last time out.
The Dolphins opened the season with back-to-back road defeats, as they were beaten 27-13 in Las Vegas and 35-13 at San Francisco.
They then fell 24-10 to Kansas City, before losing 15-10 at Minnesota and 31-24 at home to Cincinnati.
Miami finally got off the mark in Week 7, as they returned from the bye week with a 28-25 win at the New York Jets, but their joy was short-lived.
The Dolphins made an immediate return to losing ways last weekend, as they were beaten 24-19 by New England.
Verdict
Detroit have ground out a couple of big division wins, but we expect a much more convincing victory here.
