DC Defenders Form
DC enter the United Bowl having snapped their four-game losing skid with an upset win in the semi-finals.
The Defenders came into the 2026 campaign as defending champions, but came up short on opening day as they lost 16-10 in St Louis.
They rebounded quickly though, as a 44-26 victory in Columbus proved to be the start of a five-game tear that saw them beat Houston 45-7, St Louis 28-22, Birmingham 45-28 and Dallas 24-6.
DC’s run was finally halted by Louisville, as they suffered 30-13 and 33-30 defeats over back-to-back weeks, and that was followed with two more losses to close out the regular season.
The Defenders lost consecutive meetings with Orlando – 27-19 on the road and 29-23 at home – but their 5-5 record was enough to see them scrape into the postseason.
They were paired with Orlando in the semi-finals, and this time they were able to get the better of the Storm as a 28-22 victory secured their place in the United Bowl.
Louisville Kings Form
Louisville enter the United Bowl having won seven of their 11 games during their debut season in the United Football League.
The Kings were one of three teams to enter the league in the offseason, and they got off to a rough start as they lost three straight games, starting with a 15-13 defeat to Birmingham.
They then lost back-to-back meetings with Orlando – 19-9 on the road and 29-27 in overtime at home – before finally getting off the mark as they won 24-22 in overtime at Houston, and 47-25 in regulation in Dallas.
A first home win continued to elude Louisville as they were beaten 16-3 by St Louis, but they rebounded in style with back-to-back victories over defending champions DC, winning 30-13 on the road and 33-30 at home.
The Kings then wrapped up the regular season by beating Dallas 37-23 and Columbus 42-27 to compile a 6-4 record.
That set up a difficult trip to St Louis in the semi-finals, but they got the job done as a 29-20 victory over the Battlehawks secured a place in the United Bowl.
