Deontay Wilder (43-1-1, 41 KOs) returns to the ring on Saturday, December 23 to take on another former world heavyweight champion, Joseph Parker (33-3, 23 KOs) at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The fight can be exclusively seen globally in over 200 countries on DAZN.
Wilder was knocked off the top of the heavyweight ladder when he was knocked out in the seventh round of his rematch with Tyson Fury in February 2020, and he was stopped again, this time in the 11th round, when he took on Fury in their trilogy fight in October 2021.
It would be another year before the ‘Bronze Bomber’ stepped back into the boxing ring, but when he did he made up for lost time by making quick work of veteran Robert Helenius, knocking him out in the first round.
Wilder will now look to make it back-to-back wins and set up a big heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua in 2024 that would have major implications in the world title picture.
Looking to derail those plans is another man who is no stranger to holding world heavyweight gold, Joseph Parker.
The New Zealander previously held the WBO title, which he lost to Anthony Joshua in 2018, and since that night he has been attempting to climb back to the summit in the heavyweight division.
He came up short when he faced Joe Joyce for the vacant WBO interim belt in September 2022, but he has rebounded from that loss with three straight wins, and a fourth at the expense of Wilder would put him right back at the front of the queue.
But can Parker play the role of spoiler in Saudi Arabia, or will he be the latest in a long line of fighters who have succumbed to the power of Wilder?
