Ole Miss at Texas Predictions & Picks
Ole Miss are tipped to cover as a betting underdog in Texas.
The Rebels are coming off the back of an impressive win over Missouri, while Texas are reeling from back-to-back defeats and have not covered the spread since opening day.
And when it comes to making plays in key moments, we trust Trinidad Chambliss more than Arch Manning.
- Ole Miss are 3-1 in their last 4 games
- Texas are 0-5-0 ATS in their previous 5 games
- Texas have lost back-to-back games
- The Under has cashed in 4 of Texas’ last 5 games
Head To Head
- Texas lead the all-time series 6-2
- Ole Miss won 44-23 when the two teams last met in September 2013
Ole Miss Form
Ole Miss head out on the road having rebounded from their first defeat with back-to-back wins to improve to 5-1.
The Rebels kicked off the campaign with a thrilling 41-38 win over Louisville, and backed that up by blowing out Charlotte, 41-9.
They then kicked off their SEC schedule in the best possible fashion, beating former coach Lane Kiffin’s LSU team 32-24.
Ole Miss were brought back down to Earth a week later, as they were blown out on the road by Florida, 52-28.
However, the Rebels have responded to that loss in emphatic fashion, following up a 52-17 demolition of Vanderbilt with a 31-3 rout of Missouri.
Texas Form
Texas enter this matchup in desperate need of a win, having lost back-to-back games to fall to 4-2.
The Longhorns opened with a 59-7 blowout of Texas State, and then made a statement as they beat an Ohio State team ranked number one in the nation, 24-23.
They made it three-in-a-row a week later as they downed UTSA 30-6, and kicked off their SEC slate with a 20-17 victory at Tennessee.
However, the wheels have come off since then, and Texas now go into this matchup having lost consecutive games.
The Longhorns were upset 27-24 by Oklahoma in the latest Red River Rivalry game, and then suffered a 27-24 defeat when they hosted Florida last weekend.
Verdict
Texas are reeling and pressure is mounting on Arch Manning, whose days as the Longhorns starting quarterback could be numbered.
The same cannot be said for Ole Miss – they have bounced back from the recent loss and Trinidad Chambliss remains one of the very best QBs in the country, so give us the Rebels and the points.
