Saskatchewan Roughriders Form
Saskatchewan booked their place in the playoffs by winning 10 games, but the defending champions did much of their good work in the first half of the season.
The Roughriders won six of their first eight games, only to then lose six of their final 10 regular season outings to finish 10-8.
Their worst run came between mid-September and mid-October as they lost four straight games, starting with a 19-6 defeat at Winnipeg.
Saskatchewan then sandwiched a 37-31 home defeat to Calgary with road losses to BC, 31-24, and Montreal, 44-24.
The Roughriders did end the regular season with a couple of victories though, downing the Alouettes 16-12 and Edmonton 16-9 at home.
BC Lions Form
BC went on an outstanding run during the second half of the regular season to finish 10-8 and book their playoff place.
The Lions’ postseason aspirations took a major hit during the first couple of months of the season, as they lost five of their first six games.
They sparked the turnaround at the end of July though, as a 35-19 win over Winnipeg kicked off a five-game win streak.
BC then answered a 37-30 defeat at Montreal with wins over the Alouettes, 48-29, Saskatchewan, 31-24, Toronto, 24-17, and Ottawa, 41-20.
That did the job for the Lions, as defeats to Calgary, 32-13, and Winnipeg, 34-10, did not prove costly over the final couple of the weeks of the regular season.
Verdict
These two teams experienced very different form over the final couple of months of the regular season.
The Lions are the hotter hand, and we are backing them to make the most of home advantage as they win this playoff game and cover the spread.
