Detroit Red Wings vs Florida Panthers Prediction and Pick - ExpertPicks

Florida are still without Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand, and Detroit are priced like that doesn't matter.

The Detroit Red Wings head to Amerant Bank Arena to face a short-handed Florida Panthers team, and my Red Wings vs Panthers prediction backs the road side when the puck drops at 7 p.m. ET.

Detroit have won three of their last five and are giving up only 24.4 shots a game, which keeps them in most nights. At 2.49, the price is better than their form suggests, although Detroit's 68.9% penalty kill against Florida's 24.2% power play is the real worry.

Alex DeBrincat is the safest bet on the card. He's had three or more shots on goal in 11 of 14 games and in four of his last five, and 1.55 is the lowest price I'll take for it.

Seth Jones has carried Florida's offence with Barkov out. He has a point in eight of his last 10 games, including three in Friday's win over Winnipeg, so 1.71 is worth backing even on a night I like Detroit.

  • Florida have conceded the first goal in nine of their 14 games.
  • Detroit are averaging 29.7 shots a game.
  • DeBrincat has 51 shots on goal, an average of 3.64 a game.
  • Jones has 16 assists and is playing nearly 25 minutes a night.

Head to Head

The 2025-26 season series finished 2-2, with Detroit winning the first meeting 4-1 and Florida taking the last three. Tonight is the first of four meetings this season.

The last meeting was April 15, 2026, at Amerant Bank Arena, where Florida won 8-1. Mike Benning scored twice in 3.02 of the second period, and the Panthers were up 5-0 by 12.41 of the second.

Red Wings Form

Detroit are 6-5-3 and have scored 18 goals in their last five games.

Thursday's 4-1 win over Chicago came from behind, as Viktor Arvidsson scored a hat trick after Connor Bedard's opener. On Saturday, the Red Wings led St. Louis 4-2 after Emmitt Finnie's power-play goal, then gave up three goals in 4.38 of the third and lost 5-4.

Marco Kasper is out with an upper-body injury, according to ESPN's preview, so Detroit are without a key centre. Mason Appleton and Albert Johansson are also out. John Gibson allowed five goals on 15 shots on Saturday, and Detroit haven't confirmed whether he or Daniil Tarasov starts.

Panthers Form

Florida have won three straight, including back-to-back wins over Winnipeg.

Friday's 5-2 win over the Jets was all Anton Lundell, who scored a hat trick that included an empty-net goal. Sam Reinhart opened the scoring on a late first-period power play, and Akira Schmid made 22 saves.

Barkov and Marchand remain out, per ESPN, which leaves Florida thin down the middle. Jacob Markstrom is out with an upper-body injury, so Schmid should start again. Jonah Gadjovich is also out.

Verdict

Detroit at 2.49 against a weakened Florida lineup is the value, with DeBrincat shooting and Jones still finding a way onto the scoresheet.
