It was a dream first outing for a team desperately to improve on a 2023 season that saw them win just four of their 18 games.
Ottawa made a decent start as they won three of their first six games, but their form soon nose-dived.
The Redblacks lost 11 of their final 12 games of the regular season, so they will be hoping last week’s win is the first step towards a much better 2024 campaign.
Montreal Alouettes Form
Montreal enter their home opener looking to build on a strong start to their defence of the Grey Cup.
The Alouettes, who upset Winnipeg in last year’s final, have opened with back-to-back games on the road, winning both of those matchups.
They kicked things off with a rematch of last season’s Grey Cup final, visiting Winnipeg for the seaso-opener.
Montreal were able to repeat last year’s title-sealing victory, although this 27-12 success was a lot less dramatic.
The Alouettes then backed up that victory last weekend, travelling to Edmonton to record a 23-20 victory over the Elks.
