Texas are one win away from clinching the 2023 World Series after taking a 3-1 series lead last night.
The Rangers needed some late heroics to turn things around and snatch a 6-5 win over Arizona in Game 1.
They failed to follow that up as they lost the next meeting 9-1 at home, but the Rangers did rebound quickly, regaining the series lead with 3-1 and 11-7 wins on the road.
Texas finished the regular season with a 90-72 record and had to settle for second place in the division after losing the head-to-head with Houston.
That meant the Rangers faced a trip to Tampa Bay in the Wild Card round, but they made light work of the Rays with 4-0 and 7-1 wins.
They then followed that up with a three-game sweep of a Baltimore team that had racked up over 100 regular season wins.
Texas put together 3-2 and 11-8 victories on the road, and then returned home to clinch with a 7-1 victory.
The Rangers were on a roll at this point and took early control of the American League Championship Series when they recorded 2-0 and 5-4 wins in Houston.
They failed to keep their streak going at home though, suffering 8-5, 10-3 and 5-4 defeats that meant they had to go back to Houston and win back-to-back games to advance.
Texas did just that though, levelling up the series with a 9-2 win, before clinching a World Series berth with an 11-4 victory.
Arizona Diamondbacks Form
Arizona go into their final home game of the 2023 World Series knowing they have to win to keep their season alive.
The Diamondbacks blew the series opener in Texas, surrending a late lead to lose 6-5, but they responded in emphatic fashion with a 9-1 victory in Game 2.
However, they were unable to follow that up in in their first two home games of the series, losing 3-1 and 11-7.
Arizona ended the regular season with an 84-78 record and little was expected from them in the postseason.
However, the Diamondbacks caused an immediate upset in the Wild Card round as they swept Milwaukee on the road, courtesy of 6-3 and 5-2 wins.
They then topped that with a sensational sweep of a Los Angeles Dodgers team who had finished 16 games ahead of them in the NL West.
Arizona stunned the Dodgers with 11-2 and 4-2 wins on the road, before returning home to clinch with a 4-2 victory.
The Diamondbacks' postseason run looked to be in serious trouble when they suffered 5-3 and 10-0 defeats in the first two games of the National League Championship Series.
They rebounded to win 2-1 and 6-5 at home, but their 6-1 defeat in Game 5 left them on the brink of an exit when they headed back to Philadelphia.
Arizona rallied though, securing a place in the 2023 World Series with 5-1 and 4-2 wins over the Phillies.
