- 13 of Almeida’s 18 career wins have come in the 1st round
- Jairzinho Rozenstruik has been stopped in the 1st round twice
Jairzinho Rozenstruik Form
Jairzinho Rozenstruik is the #9 ranked heavyweight with a professional record of 13-4 (12 KOs).
Rozenstruik quickly made a splash in the UFC as he won each of his first four fights, knocking out Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski during that run.
His streak was halted in just 20 seconds by Francis Ngannou, and since then ‘Bigi Boy’ has not been able to string together wins.
The 35-year-old Surinamese fighter bounced back with a second round TKO stoppage of Junior dos Santos, only to then suffer a decision defeat at the hands of Ciryl Gane.
Rozenstruik again bounced back quickly, stopping Augusto Sakai with via strikes in the first round, but he then went on to lose his next two fights.
He was beaten by decision by Curtis Blaydes in September 2021, and then suffered a first-round knockout loss to Alexander Volkov in June of last year.
Rozenstruik was able to bounce back before the end of 2022 though, knocking out Chris Daukaus in just 23 seconds.
Jailton Almeida Form
Jailton Almeida is the #12 ranked heavyweight with a professional record of 18-2 (7 KOs, 11 Subs).
Almeida went 13-2 on the minor MMA circuit before getting his shot at the big time on Dana Whites’s Contender Series.
‘Malhadinho’ made a big impression, submitting Nasrudin Nasrudinov in the second round to land a contract with the UFC.
The 31-year-old Brazilian then made quick work of his UFC debut, stopping Danilo Marques via strikes in the first round.
Almeida backed that up with a couple of first-round submission wins, tapping out Parker Porter and Anton Turkadlj.
He then made it four consecutive wins under the UFC banner when he knocked out Shamil Abdurakhimov in the second round back in January.
Verdict
Jailton Almeida has torn through the opposition in the UFC and more of the same is likely here.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik has been susceptible to being stopped in the opening round of fights.
