Cannonier enjoyed a good run of form between November 2018 and July 2022 that put him in contention.

He then followed that up with a second round knockout of Brendan Allen before going the distance in his next three fights.
Strickland recorded a unanimous decision win over Krzysztof Jotko in a three-round fight, and then got the nod from the judges after going five rounds with Uriah Hall.
His win streak then hit six fights back in February when he edged Jack Hermansson by split decision.
There was no need for the judges in Strickland’s last fight though, as he was knocked out in the first round by Alex Pereira.
