Buffalo rebounded in style though as they won three straight games before the bye, sandwiching a 38-3 home blowout of Pittsburgh with a 23-20 win at Baltimore and 24-20 victory at Kansas City.
The Bills then made it four-in-a-row when they returned to action, beating Green Bay 27-17.
Their season suddenly stalled after that victory as they suffered a 20-17 defeat at the New York Jets and a 33-30 overtime defeat at home to Minnesota.
Buffalo bounced back in Detroit though, beating Cleveland 31-23 in their relocated home game before downing the Lions, 28-25, on Thanksgiving.
