The Golden Knights go to Edmonton knowing that they must win at least one road game to take the series back to Vegas, having lost 4-2 in regulation and 5-4 in overtime at home.
They earned their place in the playoffs by going 50-22-10 in the regular season to win the division, and they made a winning start to the postseason as they beat Minnesota 4-2.
Vegas stumbled after that, losing 5-2 at home and 5-2 on the road, only to rally with a 4-3 overtime victory in St Paul.
The Golden Knights then completed the job as they recorded back-to-back 3-2 wins, one in overtime at home and one in regulation on the road, to seal a 4-2 series success.
Edmonton Oilers Form
Edmonton return home with the series firmly in their control thanks to back-to-back victories on the road.
The Oilers visited Vegas for the first two games of the series, and head back north of the border with a 2-0 lead thanks to a 4-2 win in regulation and a 5-4 victory in overtime.
They earned their spot in the playoffs by compiling a 48-29-5 record, only to make a slow start to the postseason as they were beaten 6-5 and 6-2 in Los Angeles.
Edmonton responded strongly though, starting with a 7-4 win in regulation and a 4-3 victory in overtime at home.
The Oilers then backed that up and secured a 4-2 series success, as they beat the Kings 3-1 on the road and 6-4 at home.
Verdict
A series sweep for either team looked unlikely before this series began, but Edmonton have given no reason to doubt them moving a step closer to one in Game 3.
The Oilers are on a red-hot run, have won the last four meetings and have now gone 12-2 in their last 14 at home.
