How We Pick Soccer Matches
Our soccer picks come from Ben Darvill and the ExpertPicks desk.
We start with how the two teams play: their expected goals for and against, the lineups and injuries, and how each side's style matches the other.
Rotation is common when teams play twice a week, so we wait for lineups where we can. Soccer is low-scoring and draws are common, so the price matters more than picking a winner. Draw no bet and goals markets often give better value than the straight result.
How to Bet on Soccer
Three-way moneyline - Bet on the home win, the away win or the draw. It's settled on the 90 minutes plus stoppage time, not extra time or penalties.
Draw no bet - Pick a team to win. If the match is drawn, you get your stake back.
Spread (handicap) - A team at -1 must win by 2 or more to win the bet. If it wins by exactly 1, the bet is a push and you get your stake back. Quarter lines such as -0.75 split your stake across two lines.
Total goals - Bet on whether the total goals go over or under the line, usually 2.5.
Both teams to score - A yes or no bet on whether both sides score.
Player props - Anytime goalscorer, first goalscorer or shots on target.
