LA Galaxy saw their strong three-game unbeaten run brought to a grinding halt as they were hammered in a 6-2 loss at the hands of St Louis City.
Portland Timbers may have put an end to their three-game losing run, but they failed to beat Sporting Kansas in a pulsating 3-3 draw on the road.

Head To Head
Across the last 10 meetings between the sides, Galaxy have won twice, Portland have secured three wins and five matches have ended as draws.
LA Galaxy Form
LA Galaxy knew they had a major job at hand when visiting St Louis City at the weekend, but they were still swept away in a stunning 6-2 loss at the hands of their high-flying opponents.
This loss will have knocked Galaxy's confidence, but they should not allow this poor performance to take away from a three-game unbeaten run that contained a 1-1 draw with Seattle along with wins over Minnesota and Colorado.
At home, Galaxy may have only won five of their 14, but they have secured wins in three of their last four outings on their own patch. With Portland three points behind them in 10th, Galaxy need to win this one, and I back them to do just that as they move six clear of their opponents.
Portland Timbers Form
Portland Timbers have not won a game since their thrilling 5-4 win over Minnesota back in early-September, with the side failing to win any of their last five outings.
Draws with St Louis and Sporting Kansas have sandwiched defeats to Dallas, Atlanta and San Jose, with Portland unable to arrest a run of form that has seen them slip down to 10th in the Western Conference.
Victory against Galaxy would see the travelling side move level on points with their hosts in a battle for the playoff spots that is going down to the wire. While the away team will target a big win in this one, they have been poor on the road. With two wins, three draws and nine defeats coming across their 14 outings, I am backing Portland to slump to a frustrating loss.

I am backing Galaxy to get back to winning ways as they hand Portland what may be a season-defining defeat.
