LAFC were held in a 1-1 draw by New York City in their last outing as they failed to properly build on a 3-1 win over Austin in the match before.
LA Galaxy were also held in their last match as they shared the points with San Diego following a 2-2 draw.

Across their last 10 meetings, LAFC have secured five wins, Galaxy have triumphed three times and two games have ended as draws.

LAFC have been fighting hard across the season, with their 46-point haul enough to see them sat comfortably inside the top nine in the Western Conference.
They head into this game on the back of three without a defeat, although they have only won once in this time. A 3-1 win over Austin FC has been sandwiched by a pair of 1-1 draw with Vancouver and New York City, with this run enough to keep them in sixth as most of the teams around them have struggled for consistent wins.
At home, LAFC have managed to win nine of their 15 matches, while they hammered their opponents 3-0 in their last meeting. This win to nil was something of a flash in the pan considering both sides have scored in the seven of their last eight meetings. While I back the home outfit to win this one, I am not backing them to make it consecutive wins to nil over their arch-rivals.

LA Galaxy have a big chance to cut the gap between themselves in eighth and LAFC in sixth to just three points this week as they travel to take on their big rivals.
However, a single win across their last three has come alongside a 2-2 draw with San Diego and a crushing 6-2 loss to St Louis at the start of this three-game run. On the road, Galaxy have lost seven times, while they have won four matches and drawn four times. Across their last four away games they have lost three times.
The desire to beat their closest rival will give them a real boost heading into this one, but they have struggled for wins over their opponents across their last seven. In this time, Galaxy have lost five matches, drawn once and won once. While they have generally made a habit out of scoring, I am not backing them to get the better of LAFC as defeat piles the pressure on them in their hunt to finish in the top-nine
Verdict
I am backing LAFC to secure a crucial win despite failing to keep a clean sheet as they hand Galaxy a 12th defeat of the season.
