New York City vs LAFC Predictions & Picks
New York City were handed a frustrating 2-0 loss at the hands of Inter Miami in their last game as their winless run was extended to four matches.
LAFC beat Austin FC 3-1 in their last outing as they brought their four-game winless run to a close.
- LAFC have drawn six times on the road this season (W3, L6)
- The last meeting between the sides ended in a 1-1 draw
Head To Head
Across their seven previous meetings, City have won once, LAFC have won twice and four matches have ended as draws.
New York City Form
New York City have been poor across their last four matches, with one point from a possible 12 seeing them slip three points behind Cincinnati in ninth.
While they still have the time to secure the points they need to leapfrog Cincinnati, they have to start picking up points or they may slip further down the Eastern Conference ladder. Positive is that their last three have all been on the road, meaning they will finally return to playing at home for the first time since mid-September.
However, at home City have won four of their 14, drawing four games and losing the other six. An inability to secure all three points in 21 of their 29 matches this season shows City are missing that killer instinct, and I back this to hurt them yet again.
LAFC Form
LAFC may sit in sixth in the Western Conference, but they have been struggling for serious momentum of late after losing that winning feeling.
With the exception of a 2-0 win over New York Red Bulls and a 3-1 win over Austin FC, LAFC have slumped to three defeats and five draws across their last 10. Like City, LAFC have shown a real inability to kill a game off and take all three points.
On the road, they have been very middling. Three wins, six draws and six defeats have seen LAFC secure just 15 points away from home. They have also drawn four of their previous seven against their opponents, and with their record this season in mind, I predict they will drop two valuable points in this one.
Verdict
I am backing the pair to share the points as the two misfiring sides fail to secure the wins they need.
